MyInternetDesktop.com Unveils Its New Virtual Hard Drive 2.0 Version
New York, NY, May 24, 2000 - MyInternetDesktop.com (MID), the premiere platform for the
development, distribution and use of Web-based applications via Internet connected
devices, today launched VHD 2.0, a fully updated version of its Virtual Hard Drive.
The new update of the solution offers a significant increase in free virtual storage,
enabling users to download several files from any Web site directly onto MID's
Virtual Hard Drive.
MID's Virtual Hard Drive 2.0 (VHD 2.0) improves upon the original VHD release,
featuring a completely redone interface, support for folders within folders, and
via MID's iContacts 2.0, it allows for multiple share points, including sharing
files and folders to any user or group.
The new special "WebLoad" feature allows users to download files from any Web site
directly to their VHD, skipping local drive storage. Above all, it brings greater
ease of use and added functionality to all of MID's applications, along with
much faster performance.
With the launch of VHD 2.0, MyInternetDesktop.com, part of NYC-based Internet Appliance
Network, becomes the only provider of these features for all Internet devices, not
just those equipped with Internet Explorer or Windows. VHD 2.0 has been specially
created for all the users of MID who are on Internet appliances without local
storage, such as WebTV, Sega Dreamcast, Virgin Webplayer, and others.
"Our launch of VHD 2.0 brings MID closer to our ultimate notion of providing universal
accessibility for traditional hard drive applications to all users of Internet
appliances," said MID founder and vice-president, Marcelo Lewin.
"MyInternetDesktop.com offers a full range of applications to users of most
Web-enabled devices, allowing them access to their data any time, anywhere, from
any device."
Other new features as part of the launch of Virtual Hard Drive 2.0 include:
- iContacts 2.0 - An updated interface and design on MID's popular Contact
Manager. Includes the ability to create users, groups, sharing of groups,
access level controls, plus much more.
- Virtual Voice Mail 1.0 - MID's former "While You Were Out" application not
only got a new name, but also a new look and improved performance. This
application allows anyone to take phone messages and send them to any person
or group that has been created using iContacts 2.0.
- iTasks 1.0 - iTasks 1.0 allows users to create and store tasks or
"things to do" online. In addition, it enables users to track what they've
completed, what is outstanding and which tasks are late. Future versions
will include task assignments, project coordination and other features.
These features are available to all registered users of MyInternetDesktop.com starting
today, Wednesday, May 24, 2000. To register, simply go to www.myinternetdesktop.com.
