Technical Writer
An experienced technical writer is needed both to complete general technical writing tasks (user guides, procedures, requirements, help screens, etc.) and to write use cases and other UML-related documents. The latter task will require at least a good theoretical understanding of UML - in-depth experience with it, especially on a major development project, would be especially useful. This person must above all be able to understand and communicate ideas that may be initially expressed in an imprecise or incomplete fashion (often in e-mails or other informal formats), but that must be ultimately be elaborated into complete and detailed requirements. The use cases, especially, will each need to be reduced to a verbally clear, yet technically precise statement that conforms to the adopted standard. Desired Experience include proficiency in recent versions of Word and Visio, facility in basic HTML, a clear and precise writing style, ability to define and/or conform to a style guide, experience writing a wide range of documents, experience with on-line and HTML help (RoboHelp, HTMLHelp, etc.), general Windows proficiency. Experience with a UML modeling tool such as Rational Rose or Rhapsody would be especially desirable. For the UML tasks, it is also important that the candidate be comfortable producing flow charts and similar graphics.
